Join us on Saturday, September 27 at 3:00 PM at Jerry’s Place, Louis Armstrong Center for a special showcase featuring the work of Etienne Charles during his residency with the Louis Armstrong House Museum and Archives.

Trinidad-born trumpeter, percussionist, and composer Etienne Charles is celebrated for his ability to weave Caribbean rhythms, lush trumpet lines, and cultural storytelling into powerful musical narratives. A 2015 Guggenheim Fellow and 2022 Creative Capital Awardee, Charles has created acclaimed projects such as Carnival: The Sound of a People Vol. 1, Creole Soul, and San Juan Hill. His work highlights diasporic connections, amplifies marginalized voices, and bridges the past with the present through sound.

Speaking on the residency, Charles reflects:
“It’s a huge honor to be chosen to work with the Louis Armstrong House Museum and Archives on the 2025 Armstrong Now Project. I’m keenly looking forward to learning so much more about Louis Armstrong, his history and legacy.”

This intimate event offers audiences a chance to experience Charles’s unique artistry as he shares new creations inspired by Armstrong’s legacy.
